Syscoin Foundation Budget Proposal
This document outlines the role, responsibilities, and funding needs of the Syscoin Foundation, the legal entity representing the decentralized Syscoin project in regulatory, legal, and institutional matters. The Foundation plays a vital support role by maintaining the ecosystem’s credibility, enabling external partnerships, and managing key compliance functions.
The Syscoin Foundation is a non-profit legal entity that acts as the formal representative of Syscoin in matters requiring legal, regulatory, and institutional engagement. It exists to protect the integrity of the project, guide its legal and structural development, and provide a stable framework for external relationships.
Key responsibilities include:
-
Exchange Listings – Facilitating and maintaining listings on centralized exchanges, and acting as the official point of contact when required.
-
Legal and Regulatory Compliance – Overseeing legal and compliance efforts, ensuring alignment with global standards, and helping protect the Syscoin ecosystem and its community from legal risks, abuse, and bad actors.
-
Representation – Acting as the formal voice of the Syscoin ecosystem in partnerships, collaborations, and third-party communications.
-
Strategic Oversight – Ensuring the Syscoin ecosystem stays aligned with its mission and values, while supporting its long-term structure as outlined in the Foundation’s statutes
The Foundation does not handle the day-to-day execution of the ecosystem. Instead, it provides legal and structural support to SMT and other Syscoin contributors, ensuring operational efforts are backed by a compliant and credible legal foundation.
Budget Considerations
While the Foundation operates with a lean structure, it still incurs necessary legal and administrative costs. These include entity maintenance, legal retainers, documentation, and advisory compliance-related expenses. The current funding is below the minimum required to fully cover these obligations. One of the Foundation board members has extended a loan to keep things functional. When the budget allows it, we will put in a proposal to repay this loan.
This proposal requests the minimum funding necessary to keep the Foundation fully operational and compliant.
Estimated Legal and Compliance Costs: $15,000 or 300,000 Syscoin
We’re grateful for the continued support of the community and all contributors. The Foundation will continue focusing on the legal and structural groundwork that enables public-facing teams and projects to grow with confidence.
With your backing, we can ensure Syscoin remains legally sound, accessible on major platforms, and ready for what’s next.
Thank you for your trust and support.
