i can not unlock that wallet with that 8 words, damn…

but can not unlock it. tried with upper and lower case , with space /without space… always failed
is this version correct?

That 8 word backup phrase sounds very much like the Mnemonic (see BIP39) used in v3 as recovery phrase for the master key. The wording at that time was a bit unlucky, leading to confusion between recovery phrase and passphase (to unlock the wallet).
After installing of the QT exe without an wallet in the data directory, it should ask if you want to create a new wallet or recover one with that phrase.
If the extraction of the keys doesn’t get to any results, this would be another way. Might possibly be necessary to create a bunch of additional keys (keypoolrefill?) in debug console to get all keys with coins.
I don’t think bip39 allows for 8 word mnemonics.
Oops! You are right, I mixed it up.
8 is max length of the words.
Number of words is 12, 18 or 24.
(see bip39.cpp in v3)
